Couples Therapy in Horsham

The idea of couples counselling can be scary, I get it. Admitting there is a problem and talking to someone about things which are so private and intimate can feel frightening. But how you feel in your relationship is so important. If you're experiencing difficulties or wondering how to move forward. If you've 'lost' something you once had or are struggling to get past something, then perhaps having some sessions together would help.

Couples counselling is a way to explore what is going on between you, how you've gotten to this place and how to move forward in a healthier and happier way.

It's really important when seeking couple's therapy to ensure you are seeing a counsellor who is specially trained and qualified in working with couples.

About Me

Suzie Booth MSc. MBACP (accred)

Hi, I'm Suzie. I'm a qualified counsellor and couple's therapist working in Horsham. I have a Master's degree (MSc.) in Integrative Therapy and Bachelor's degree (Bsc.) in Psychology & Philosophy. I have trained further and earned a Certificate in Couple's Counselling and so I have the specialist knowledge of working in this way to help your relationship.

I have been working with couples for 8 years now and have worked with so many of the issues couples face in relationships, including:

infidelity, betrayal, loss of feelings, communication problems, fertility struggles, impacts of parenting, resentment, managing the household, questioning the next step, frequent arguments, changes in intimacy.

It is absolutely possible to work through these issues and continue on to a healthier and happier partnership. Although it can feel scary to talk to someone about these private and intimate issues, I am here to provide you that safe and private space to do that. If you're wanting to find a way to separate we can also work towards doing that in a supportive and courteous way.

  • What happens in counselling sessions?
Counselling provides a confidential and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges with a trained professional. The process is collaborative, meaning I work with you to help you gain insight, and make meaningful changes in your life. Counselling involves: Exploring Your Experiences – We will talk about your thoughts, feelings, memories, and relationships. We will work to uncover recurring themes or unresolved issues. Understanding Unconscious Patterns – It might be that past experiences are influencing your current behaviours and emotions in ways you might not be fully aware of. Working Through Difficult Emotions – Counselling can bring up deep emotions, including unresolved grief, anger, or anxiety. I will support you in processing these feelings safely. Gaining Insight & Change Over Time – The process of self-exploration leads to increased self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships. This process can lead to moving forward in a different, more conscious, healthy and empowered way. Counselling is usually open-ended, meaning there is no fixed number of sessions. The work unfolds at your pace, allowing for meaningful and lasting change. Click here to learn more

  • What happens in couple's counselling?
Couples counselling provides a safe, supportive space for you both to explore your relationship challenges and to strengthen your connection. In sessions, I will facilitate open and honest conversations, helping you to express your thoughts, emotions, and needs in a constructive way. Typically, the process includes: Understanding Your Relationship – I will ask about your history as a couple, key challenges, and your wants for counselling. Identifying Patterns – We will understand communication styles, recurring conflicts, and emotional triggers that impact your relationship. Developing Healthy Communication – I will help you to develop active listening, expressing emotions effectively, and resolving disagreements in a way that fosters understanding rather than conflict. Exploring Emotional and Attachment Needs – Many conflicts stem from unmet emotional needs. Counselling helps uncover deeper feelings and attachment patterns that influence your dynamic. Working Toward Solutions – Counselling is tailored to your unique relationship, whether that means rebuilding connection, improving conflict resolution, or navigating major life transitions. The goal is not about assigning blame but rather developing mutual understanding, empathy, and lasting relationship growth. Click here to learn more
