ONLY TEENAGERS SELF-HARM



It is more common in teens but is also quite prevalent amongst young adults and even happens among about 5% of adults 




IT’S JUST ATTENTION SEEKING



Most often self-harm happens in secret and people try to hide it by wearing long sleeves or trousers, even in really hot weather.



SELF-HARM IS A SUICIDE ATTEMPT



They can be linked, but self-harm is often a coping strategy used to try to make life more manageable




ONLY CUTTING IS SELF-HARM



There are many ways people harm themselves including: punching

scratching

burning

poisoning

breaking bones

pulling hair
